Do you recognise this moment, when students seem to “understand” grammar, but when they are supposed to ask a simple question in English – there is suddenly a silence?

ASK! DON’T STRAY was created precisely to convert this mental block into a natural conversation. It is a dynamic language game in which players search for their team, ask questions, analyse their answers, describe characters and use English for a particular purpose. Not “just for practice”, but to win, find the right people and have fun.

As a result, students do not feel as if they are just doing yet another school exercise. They stay engaged, keen to ask questions and answer them, and with each round they become more and more comfortable using the language.

The game works great for one-to-one lessons, group classes, private lessons, at language schools, and also at home — especially when you want learning English to stop being associated with pressure and start being about action, laughter and real communication.

ASK! DON’T STRAY ‘grows’ with the learner. At lower levels, you can practise simple questions and descriptions, and with more advanced players, gradually introducing more complex structures, different tenses, more detailed answers and precise justifications for their choices.

It’s the perfect game for teachers who want their students to speak more, with greater confidence and more naturally — without constantly having to correct them, explain the rules or saying: ‘Right, now try asking a question’.

Here, students simply have a reason to ask questions.

Language benefits

Building questions in English with confidence: Students practise forming questions in a practical context – not as a tedious grammar exercise, but as a real-life way of obtaining the information they need for the game.
Reinforcing grammatical structures in speaking: The game allows players to practise various constructions, including questions with the verb ‘to be’, modal verbs, grammatical tenses and structures such as ‘can’ and ‘have got’ – depending on the group’s level.
Developing vocabulary related to people, professions and activities: The cards encourage students to describe appearances, traits, professions and activities, allowing them to consolidate their vocabulary in a natural, communicative context.
Better fluency and confidence in conversation: Students listen to answers, respond, ask follow-up questions and make decisions in English, which helps them overcome their fear of speaking and start using the language in practice more quickly.

Game contents: 40 cards featuring characters and activities, 10 question cards, 10 large cards with job titles and activities, instructions (PL/EN); Language: English; Age: 10+; Number of game variants: 3
