BAFFLE ME KIDS – PRESENT CONTINUOUS

The Present Continuous is a tense that’s ideal for talking about a child’s world: what someone is doing right now, what’s happening in a picture, in the classroom, at home, on the playground or whilst doing their favourite activity. However, for a child to really start using it, simply knowing the rule isn’t enough.

BAFFLE ME KIDS – PRESENT CONTINUOUS helps to turn grammar into action. Children ask questions, answer them, read, listen to other players and react at a fast pace. As a result, the ‘to be + -ing’ structure ceases to be just a rule learned during lessons and begins to appear naturally in communication.

The game engages children from the very first rounds, as it gives them a clear goal: to answer correctly, ask a good question, get rid of their token or eliminate an opponent. This means that learning isn’t associated with pressure, but with fun, movement, excitement and the satisfaction of giving one correct answer after another.

In the BAFFLE ME variant, players compete against each other by asking questions at a rapid pace to provoke a wrong answer and eliminate their opponent from the game. In the ASK ME variant, the task is to create questions that match the answers shown on the circles. Both variants help practise the Present Continuous in questions, answers and short dialogues.
