WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF…?

The 3rd conditional is one of those structures that can cause quite a bit of difficulty, as it requires you to think simultaneously about the past, hypothetical situations and their possible consequences. It isn’t just another grammatical pattern — it’s a way of talking about what might have happened if things had turned out differently.

‘WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF…?’ helps participants get to know this structure in an active, creative and much more natural way. Instead of learning the third conditional solely from a table, participants work with cards, match sentences, form questions, create stories and imagine alternative versions of events.

The game uses humorous scenarios and engaging situations that encourage participants to speak English without stress or boredom. Participants practise not only grammatical accuracy, but also logical thinking, coherence in their speech, and the ability to discuss causes and consequences.

The set includes four game variants: Black Peter, Chain Stories, Shower of Questions and What Would Have Happened If…?. Each one develops a different aspect of the language — from matching sentence fragments, through asking questions, to creating longer stories using the third conditional.
